Welcome aboard the Historical Walking Tour of Montreal's neighborhood of Little Italy!
St-Laurent Street, in the neighborhood of Little Italy.
Everybody knows that St-Laurent Street between Jean-Talon and St-Zotique is where all the Italian restaurants, cafés and shops can be found. It is said that St-Laurent Street is the main artery of Montreal’s Little Italy.
However, it does not stop there. There are many other places to visit in Little Italy that do not happen to be on St-Laurent. In fact, those sites have more historical value than shops found on St-Laurent.
This walking tour will concentrate on these other sites that started the whole neighborhood. We will visit the Casa d'Italia, the Jean-Talon Market, the Madonna della Difesa Church, the Dante Park and the Pizzeria Napoletana. Stay until the end of the tour, when a delicious meal will be served at Montreal's very first pizzeria. Before we start our historical walking tour, you will be given some information about the italian immigration waves in Canada, and Montreal specifically. All aboard, and let's begin our tour!
